Armed San Angelo Woman Arrested for Threatening a Stranger with a Knife

SAN ANGELO— A San Angelo woman has been arrested after threatening to harm another individual with a knife at a local fast-food joint.

Miranda Carnicle, 32, was arrested last week and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, assault causing bodily injury, and failure to identify by giving false or fictitious information.

According to court documents, on May 24, 2023, San Angelo police were dispatched to Whataburger, located at 1830 North Bryant Boulevard, regarding an unwanted subject. The investigator responded to this location as well.

Upon his arrival, the investigator learned that the police officer made contact with Carnicle, who was observed to be in possession of a knife. At the time of this contact, Carnicle was confrontational toward the officer and fled when she observed he was with the police. After a short pursuit, Carnicle was taken into custody and the knife was secured.

The officer contacted the victim who reported that Carnicle assaulted her and threatened her with a knife.

The investigator spoke with the victim who stated she and a friend were sitting at a table inside the Whataburger when Carnicle, who is a stranger, walked past their table and said “Hi, Girls”. The victim then stated that Carnicle threw a piece of paper at her after the victim and her friend did not acknowledge her.

The victim got up from her seat and a verbal altercation took place. Carnicle then walked out of the door and the victim continued to walk out behind her continuing to argue. The victim stated during the verbal altercation, Carnicle exhibited a knife and began chasing her. This caused the victim to run back inside the Whataburger and hid behind an employee.

The investigator spoke with the victim’s friend who stated that she observed Carnicle chasing the victim outside in the parking lot. The friend said at one point, she was in the path of Carnicle and had to move in order to avoid being struck by the knife. The friend also heard Carncile threaten to terminate the victim’s life following the chase.

The employee was contacted who stated she heard a commotion in the dining area of the restaurant. The employee approached the dining area and observed the victim running back into the Whataburger. Then, the victim hid behind this employee in fear and that Carnicle was yelling and asking where the victim was as she held a knife.

Carnicle was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Detention Faciliity on May 25, 2023, and is currently an inmate being held on $81,500 bond.
