Trial for 1st Defendant for Infant who Died of a Heroin Overdose Underway

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – The trial for the grandmother of the infant who died of a heroin overdose back in 2020 began on Monday.

According to court documents, on July 24, 2023, the trial against Cristin Chanelle Bradley, 40, of San Angelo, began in the 51st District Court. Bradley is charged with felony injury to a child with intent to cause serious bodily injury.

Bradley was originally arrested back in November 2020 after 2-month-old Brixlee Marie Lee died from a heroin overdose at Shannon. She is also accused of delivering Brixlee at home and cutting her umbilical cord with a shoelace.

Along with Bradley, the baby's mother, Destiney, and Bradley's boyfriend, Dustin Smock, are also charged with injury to a child. They are both awaiting trial.

The state is represented by District Attorney Allison Palmer and Assistant District Attorney Sara Reyes. Bradley is being represented by local defense attorney Thomas Jackson. On Monday, the indictment was read to the jury, and Bradley entered a plea of Not Guilty.

The trial will continue on July 25 with the defense giving its opening statements at 9 a.m. The trial is being presided over by 51st District Judge Carmen Dusek.
