Lockdown Lifted at Odessa Permian High School

ODESSA— The shooting at Odessa Permian has now been labeled a hoax by school officials after the school was place in a lockdown on Monday.

On Monday, August 21, 2023, the Ector County Independent School District placed Permian High School under a lockdown after a person with a weapon was reported on campus. Scanner reports indicated that it was an AR style weapon at the time by the DPS.

Now, Ector County ISD has declared the school shooting a hoax in a report posted on its Facebook page. The post reads:

UPDATE: The lockdown at Permian High School has been cleared and all students and staff are safe. It was determined that the call to the police was a hoax. Again, the lockdown has been cleared and all students and staff are safe.

For safety reason, the school will not released students at this time, and will do a regular class change at this time.
