DPS: Violent Extremists Could Attack the Jewish Community in Texas

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety is responding to Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s directive this week to work with local partners and federal intelligence agencies on heightened public safety measures in light of the recent attacks against Israel.

At this time, DPS is not aware of any specific and credible threats to Texas. However, the department does have concerns the current conflict could inspire homegrown violent extremists and foreign terrorist organizations operating in the United States to target the Jewish community and institutions associated with Israel outside of the Middle East.

The department encourages Texans to remain vigilant at all times and report any suspicious activity via iWatchTexasThe iWatchTexas program is a critical resource for reporting suspicious activity in communities across the state in order to help prevent dangerous attacks.
