Escaped Jail Inmate Captured

MIDLAND, TX — Midland County Sheriff David Criner confirmed the capture and return to custody of an inmate who had previously escaped from the Midland County Jail.

The Sheriff's office reported that law enforcement apprehended the escaped inmate, identified as Michael Nash, at 1700 South Midkiff Rd. Further details regarding his capture are anticipated to be released soon.

According to a notification from the Midland Crime Stoppers Facebook page, Nash, who was last observed on Thursday night, December 14, managed to flee from the Midland County Jail.

The Midland County Sheriff's Office revealed that Nash exploited a secure door within the detention center to execute his escape. Nash was detained on charges including theft over $100 but under $750, evading arrest or detention in a motor vehicle, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and additional out-of-county warrants related to forgery of a financial instrument.

Authorities have announced a cash reward of up to $1,000 for any information leading to Nash's re-arrest.

He was back in custody Tuesday.
