Two Lubbock Teens Charged with Capitol Murder

 

LUBBOCK, TX - Two teenagers from Lubbock are in custody after assaulting two individuals during an attempted car robbery. The incident unfolded in the 5500 block of Nashville Avenue, where 17-year-old Zion Perez and an unidentified 15-year-old boy approached 78-year-old Carolyn Batteas, attempting to steal her car. During the robbery, both Batteas and Paul Curran, 67, who tried to intervene, were assaulted by the teens.

Armed with a gun, the teenagers fired multiple shots at Curran before fleeing the scene. Law enforcement later apprehended them near 19th Street and Birch Avenue. Both teens face charges of attempted capital murder and aggravated robbery.

Batteas sustained moderate injuries and was transported to University Medical Center, while Curran thankfully escaped without injuries.
