Aircraft Now Searching for Fugitive Murder Suspect Near Mertzon

 

Mertzon, TX - At least two DPS helicopters and a Pilatus PC-12 aircraft are circling an area west of Mertzon, searching for the fleeing murder suspect. 

The driver was said to have exited off FM 2469. The DPS aircraft are flashing their codes on ADS-B.

As of the latest update from the City of Odessa, the suspect in this morning’s homicide in Ector County is currently evading capture outside of Odessa/Ector County. 

DPS and supporting counties are managing the situation.

According to the San Angelo Police Department, both local police and Tom Green County Sherriffs are actively monitoring the situation in the Midland/Odessa area.

Recent information revealed that the suspect wrecked somewhere in Irion County, and DPS is working on apprehending the suspect.

The San Angelo Police Department stated that there is no active threat to the citizens of San Angelo as officers and deputies are “strategically positioned” on the roadways heading toward Irion County.

San Angelo police are also communicating with San Angelo ISD to give updates regarding the incident.
