WALL, TX — A former assistant band director at Wall High School was sentenced to 30 years in prison for producing child pornography, following a case that began with reports of inappropriate communication to minors via social media.
On March 20, 2024, the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office began investigating after Wall Independent School District officials reported that several underage female students had received sexually explicit messages from an unknown individual using TikTok and a texting app.
The investigation revealed that the suspect, Joshua Alexander Carroll, 33, of San Angelo, had not only used sexually explicit language but also attempted to solicit explicit photos from minors and sent a pornographic image to a girl under 15. Carroll had been employed by the school district since January 2022.
Carroll was arrested on May 14, 2024, by Tom Green County investigators, who executed search warrants at his home and within Wall High School for electronic devices. He was initially charged with Online Solicitation of a Minor, released on a $45,000 bond the following day, but was re-arrested on the same day due to a federal detainer after further evidence showed he possessed and produced child pornography.
In a sentencing hearing today at the George H. Mahon Federal Building and US Courthouse in Lubbock, Texas, Judge James Wesley Hendrix sentenced Carroll to 30 years in prison followed by 20 years of supervised release for the production of child pornography.
