Shots Fired in Buffalo Heights; Suspect in Custody After Standoff

SAN ANGELO, TX — A man is in custody and receiving medical treatment following a shooting that stemmed from a domestic dispute in the Buffalo Heights subdivision Wednesday evening, according to the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 5:38 p.m. to a residence in the 3200 block of Lakota Lane for a reported domestic dispute. Upon arrival, they were met with gunfire from a male subject. Deputies returned fire and contained the scene with assistance from the San Angelo Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, and other agencies.

A shelter-in-place order was issued for residents as a helicopter circled overhead and officers positioned with long guns were seen near Bison Trail. Scanner traffic later indicated that the suspect had been taken into custody. The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the suspect sustained a gunshot wound and was receiving medical care. No deputies were injured.

The shelter-in-place order was lifted later in the evening after the area was secured. The Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting, and no further details have been released.
