Vehicle of Missing Abilene Man Found Submerged; Body Recovered

ABILENE, TX — Authorities in Abilene have recovered the vehicle of Jeremy Neves, a 25-year-old man reported missing in early April, and discovered a deceased individual inside matching his description, police said Thursday.

The Abilene Police Department said the submerged vehicle was found June 26 in a section of Lytle Creek beneath Loop 322. The recovery was made after Rapid Compassion Collective, an out-of-state organization specializing in locating missing persons with advanced technology, notified local authorities.

Neves’ family reported him missing in April, prompting an extensive search that included mounted patrols, utility task vehicles, helicopters, lake patrols, GPS data analysis, social media monitoring and community-organized searches. The FBI Analytical Division also assisted.

The body has been sent for autopsy to confirm identification and determine the cause of death, police said.

The department extended condolences to Neves’ family and thanked individuals and groups, including Samantha Fraga, the Salazar and Limones families, Orange Diamond Recon, Erin North, and Brittany Young, for assisting in the search.
