Texas Tech Student Arrested for Assault After Taunting Mourners of Charlie Kirk

Booker was celebrating the death of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated on Sept. 10, 2025. Kirk was allegedly shot by 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, who was arrested for aggravated murder. Robinson was arrested on Friday.

In videos of the vigil, Booker was seen dancing around, chanting, “F*ck yeah, homie dead. He got shot in the head.”

An individual mourning Kirk’s death was holding a sign that said, “Rest in Peace, Charlie Kirk." The man, who was also wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat, said, “Murder is bad. She is evil.”

Booker went to knock the man’s hat off at one point, but it’s unclear if that was the reason she was arrested. She also claimed people who gathered around were racist and stated that she “has yet to receive her reparations for slavery," to which a different man said, “You don’t deserve it." Booker responded with, “You basically just called me a n***er”.

When attendees called Booker aggressive, she claimed she was not being aggressive, and that the attendees just called her that because she is a black woman.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott said on X that Booker picked the wrong school to taunt the death of Charlie Kirk. Abbott also commented on a picture of Booker being arrested:

"This is what happened to the person who was mocking Charlie Kirk's assassination at Texas Tech. FAFO," Abbott stated. 

Cody Campbell, who was appointed by Abbott to the Board of Regents of the Texas Tech University System, said:

“We at Texas Tech are proud of our values and are not afraid to stand up for them. Strive for Honor Evermore! Long Live the Matadors!!"

Texas Tech police eventually arrived on the scene, and Booker was arrested for assault. It is unclear, despite claims, if she had been expelled from Texas Tech.
