Police Give Update to Shooting in San Angelo

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo police released new details after officers and emergency responders were dispatched around 8:15 p.m. Saturday to a shooting near the intersection of East Ninth Street and North Chadbourne Street.

According to San Angelo Police Department Public Information Officer Kelsey Hernandez, officers found a 34-year-old man who had sustained gunshot wounds to his face. The victim was transported to Shannon Medical Center, where he is in stable condition.

Police said a 35-year-old suspect was taken into custody on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The investigation remains ongoing, and a formal press release is expected at a later time.

Dispatch audio earlier in the evening indicated the victim may have been inside a white Kia at the scene. Medics were also called to treat a woman who was reported to be hyperventilating.

At 8:28 p.m., a Nixle alert advised the public to avoid Chadbourne Street from 7th Street to 15th Street due to police activity. Nearby residents told San Angelo LIVE! they heard two gunshots ring out.
