San Angelo Man Arrested for Running Over Girlfriend with Truck Following Argument

SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo man has been arrested for running over his girlfriend with his truck.

Saul Mendoza, 26, of San Angelo, has been arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Jail for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to court documents, on Oct. 3, 2025, the investigator was contacted by a San Angelo police officer who advised there was an incident on the 1800 block of La Mesa Lane where a woman had been struck by a vehicle.

The investigator responded to the scene and made contact with an officer who had the defendant, identified as Saul Mendoza, detained in a patrol vehicle. According to an affidavit, Mendoza made a statement that he had run over the victim with his truck.

A witness reportedly said she had heard yelling and loud banging noises outside her residence, so she looked out of the window and observed a pickup truck that was not turned on. She observed two people inside the truck, and it appeared that they were arguing. Then, the witness called the non-emergency dispatch number to advise them of the argument.

It was a short time later when she heard another loud banging noise.

Information states that when she looked out of the window again, she saw a woman lying on the ground in front of the truck and then observed the truck begin to slowly roll, then accelerate at a high speed, running over the woman.

At Shannon Medical Center, the investigator spoke with the victim. She stated that after she had gotten off work, she began receiving phone calls from her boyfriend, Mendoza, accusing her of cheating on him.

Mendoza arrived at her residence uninvited and began yelling at her, telling her to come outside. The victim said that if she did not do this, Mendoza threatened to end the relationship. The victim went outside, and the argument continued. Mendoza allegedly had gotten into the victim’s face, so she pushed him back. Then, she threw rocks at his truck because he continued to get in her face.

As Mendoza went to leave, the victim ran after him. As Mendoza opened the truck door, the victim fainted due to a medical condition and fell in front of the truck in the street, the affidavit states. As she regained consciousness, she saw the truck’s headlights turn on and heard the truck being put into gear. Then, Mendoza accelerated at a high speed and ran over the victim.

The investigator spoke with Mendoza, who stated he had gone to the victim’s residence due to her saying that if he cared about her, he would check on her. He drove to the victim’s house, and once he arrived, he texted the victim, saying that if she did not come outside, he would break up with her.

Mendoza and the victim continued arguing, and he said that she pushed him to the ground. Then he stated the victim began throwing rocks at him, but did not strike him. As he entered his truck, he turned the music up and drove away. When driving, Mendoza said that he felt like he had run something over, so he went back to the scene. He claimed he did not see the victim when he drove away and said that she must have put herself under the truck.

When speaking with the victim at Shannon, the investigator observed multiple injuries, including large abrasions on both of her legs, both of her arms, and her face. She had a large amount of swelling and bruising on the right side of her face and what appeared to be a tire tread pattern on her right leg and right shoulder. The investigator learned from medical staff that the victim suffered multiple broken or fractured bones in the area of her right shoulder.

Mendoza was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Jail for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is currently an inmate held without bond.
