San Angelo Mother Arrested for Running Over Her Child With a Vehicle

SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo mother is behind bars after running over her child with a vehicle.

Myra Ruiz, 35, was arrested by the San Angelo Police Department for aggravated assault to a family, dating, or household member causing serious bodily injury.

According to court documents, on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2025, the investigator spoke with a Child Protective Investigator, CPI, who advised that she learned that a child was injured not by falling off a trampoline as previously reported, but instead by being run over by a vehicle that was driven by the child’s mother, Myra Ruiz.

That same day, the investigator spoke to a witness who was adamant the child was seriously injured after falling off a trampoline, breaking the child’s leg, and that he was not run over by a vehicle.

A second witness, however, stated that he was told Ruiz had run over her child and that she lied to medical personnel with the story of the trampoline. That was corroborated by a third witness who stated he was also told by Ruiz that she ran over her child.

Medical records were reviewed on Nov. 25 that documented Ruiz’s child has a closed, displaced right femur fracture.

The next day, the CPI obtained an Order to Aid to help secure cooperation from Ruiz for the forensic interview of the child that was injured and another individual.

On Tuesday, Dec. 2, a detective observed the forensic interview with the injured child. The investigator spoke with the detective and learned that the injured child continued to claim that they sustained the broken femur by falling off a trampoline. The detective stated that it appeared the injured child had been coached on what to say during the interview.

The second forensic interview with the other individual was reviewed where they initially stated that Ruiz’s child had broken their leg when they fell off the trampoline. However, later in that same interview, the individual stated that Ruiz did run over her child’s leg, arm, and finger with a four-door, silver vehicle.

This person then stated that they, along with Ruiz’s child, were told by Ruiz to retell the trampoline story so they would not get in trouble. Ruiz allegedly said that if they said her child’s injuries were caused by her, she would get arrested and they would get taken way.

The same day, the investigator spoke with a doctor who advised Ruiz’s child would be in a cast for at least six weeks. The cast goes from the child’s groin area down to the ball of their foot, and they are unable to walk, requiring a wheelchair.

Myra Ruiz was arrested on Dec. 3, 2025, and booked into the Tom Green County Jail with a $50,000 bond.
