SAN ANGELO, TX — A federal grand jury indicted San Angelo resident John Mark Olive on two counts related to child pornography, according to court documents filed today in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, San Angelo Division. The case alleges serious violations involving the transportation and possession of explicit material depicting minors.
Olive is accused in Count One of knowingly transporting child pornography using means of interstate commerce, including the internet, the messaging app Kik, and a cellular telephone. The alleged activity occurred between February 12, 2025, and February 17, 2025. Prosecutors claim Olive transported 22 visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, with examples cited in the indictment including videos depicting young children in graphic sexual acts with adults.
Count Two charges Olive with possession of child pornography involving a prepubescent minor under 12 years old. This count stems from material allegedly found on an Apple iPhone 15 on or about November 19, 2025. The indictment describes numerous images and videos on the device, including depictions of an adult male engaging in sexual intercourse with a one-year-old female child.
The charges carry severe penalties under Title 18 of the United States Code. A conviction on Count One could result in up to 20 years in federal prison, while Count Two mandates a minimum of 10 years and up to 20 years if the material involves a minor under 12. Both counts also include potential fines, supervised release, and registration as a sex offender.
In addition to the criminal charges, the indictment includes a forfeiture notice under 18 U.S.C. § 2253, requiring Olive to surrender any property used in the offenses, including the iPhone mentioned in Count Two, as well as any proceeds or materials related to the violations.
An arrest warrant has been issued, and the case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Whitney James under United States Attorney Ryan Raybould. We emphasize that the allegations in the indictment are just that: Allegations. Olive is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
