STERLING CITY, TX — An 18-year-old man was arrested, and approximately $1,700 worth of stolen tools were recovered following a January burglary at the Sterling City High School agriculture shop, the Sterling County Sheriff’s Office announced.
Miguel Palacio was taken into custody after the sheriff’s office executed an arrest warrant. With assistance from the Texas Rangers and the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office, deputies searched Palacio’s residence and recovered the items stolen from the school’s AG shop.
The burglary occurred on Jan. 9 when the shop was broken into, and tools valued at about $1,700 were taken.
Chief Deputy Richardson and Sheriff Irby used Sterling County’s Flock license plate reader system to identify the suspect vehicle, determine how long it was in the area, and obtain registration information.
That data helped investigators locate Palacio and secure search warrants for his phone and residence.
The case remains under investigation.
