Former Tom Green County Reserve Deputy Arrested

SAN ANGELO, TX - On Feb. 19, 2026, former Tom Green County Sheriff's Office Reserve Deputy Caleb Edwards was arrested pursuant to a grand jury indictment charging him with aggravated assault related to an alleged incident occurring on Sept. 10, 2025, in Irion County.

The allegation involves a reported altercation following a roadway encounter in a construction zone. Upon receiving information regarding the allegation, the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office requested the Texas Rangers conduct an independent investigation. The Texas Rangers presented their findings to a grand jury, which returned an indictment. Edwards surrendered himself early this morning to custody at the Tom Green County Detention Center.

Edwards served as a Reserve Deputy with the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office for less than three months, from June 23, 2025, until his suspension on September 17, 2025. Edwards was released shortly after noon today on a $250,000.00 bond.

As this case is pending prosecution, the Sheriff's Office will not have further comment.
