San Angelo Man Indicted for Criminal Negligent Homicide After Fatal Crash

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — A 49-year-old San Angelo man has been indicted with criminal negligent homicide in connection with a crash that killed another driver in December 2024. 

William George Patton Jr. was booked into the Tom Green County Detention Center on Feb. 14, 2026, at 11:12 a.m. His bond was set at $30,000.

According to the indictment returned by a Tom Green County grand jury in January 2026, Patton, on or about Dec. 3, 2024, caused the death of Jack Monte Jones by criminal negligence. 

The document alleges Patton entered a traffic intersection while driving in excess of the posted speed limit and struck a vehicle operated by Jones. 

The charge is a state jail felony. The case is pending in the 391st District Court.
