Woman, 18, Charged After Fatal Crash in Stephenville

 

STEPHENVILLE, TX — An 18-year-old woman has been arrested after a fatal car crash in Stephenville.

Gracie Yates is being held at the Erath County Jail after crashing her car into a home and killing two people.

According to reports, Stephenville police responded to the 200 block of North Ollie Street around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2026, regarding a major crash in which a vehicle left the roadway and struck a residence.

When police arrived, they located several injured individuals who were transported to an area hospital. Two people, an adult woman and a juvenile boy, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Yates, was taken into custody and charged with two counts of criminally negligent homicide. She is being held on $29,000 bond. 

Yates, who is from the small town of Santa Anna, was also arrested in Brownwood in July 2025 on charges of public intoxication and resisting arrest.
