SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo man has been arrested after threatening to kill a woman and her boyfriend with a knife.
Abel Buitron-Salas, 41, was arrested by the San Angelo Police Department for city warrants and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
According to court documents, on April 5, 2026, the investigator was notified to respond to the 200 block of West Avenue R for a disturbance. Officers on scene told the investigator that they spoke with the victim and a witness, and the officers had arrested Buitron-Salas for city warrants.
While conducting the investigation, it was learned that Buitron-Salas and the victim had been separated for eight years, and he allegedly showed up at the residence drunk. Buitron-Salas wanted to speak with the victim in private. She refused and said Buitron-Salas was mad because her boyfriend was with her. Then, he pulled a knife and held it close to the victim’s face saying, “I’ll kill you and him."
The victim’s mother entered the room, but Buitron-Salas had already put the knife away. Then the victim’s boyfriend, the witness, called police.
The investigator spoke with the witness who said he and the victim were sleeping in a bedroom. When they woke up, they walked out and saw Buitron-Salas speaking to the victim’s mother. The two walked out of the residence but walked back in shortly after, and that is when Buitron-Salas wanted to speak with the victim in private. When she refused, the witness said he pulled a knife and threatened to kill both him and the victim.
The witness also had an audio recording of the incident which corroborated the victim’s statement.
Buitron-Salas refused to speak with the investigator who observed a knife sheath on his right hip with no knife. The knife was located in a dining room drawer, and it fit the description given by the victim and the witness.
Buitron-Salas was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Jail and is an inmate as of April 7, 2026. He is being held on $50,000 bond.
