17-Year-Old Charged With Murder in Big Spring 

 

BIG SPRING, TX — A 17-year-old arrested Monday in Austin has been charged with murder in connection to a homicide last year in Big Spring.

The Big Spring Police Department announced the arrest Wednesday, stating that Josue A. Solis was charged with the death of Christopher Salazar, 20, on Aug. 1, 2025.

Solis was booked into the Howard County Jail with a bond of $1 million.

Big Spring police found Salazar lying in the roadway at the intersection of Northeast 6th Street and North Goliad Street, and first responders were unable to resuscitate him.

The Big Spring PD’s Criminal Investigations Division began working on the case, and the investigation eventually led to an arrest warrant being obtained for Solis, who was arrested by Austin Department of Public Safety’s Criminal Investigations Division.

The Texas Rangers also assisted in the investigation.

Big Spring PD stated the investigation is still ongoing and urges anyone with information relating to this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 432-263-TIPS (8477) or use the P3tips.com software to submit a tip online. No caller ID is used, and all tips are anonymous, the press release stated.
