SAN ANGELO, TX — Court filings detail the seizure of $2,855 in cash and more than 100 grams of methamphetamine from a San Angelo woman during a February 2025 drug bust, with the state now seeking permanent forfeiture of the currency.
The State of Texas filed a Notice of Seizure and Intended Forfeiture in Tom Green County District Court under cause number A250100C, seeking to forfeit the money from Jana Jobeth Thompson, who was 38 at the time of her arrest and lived in the 600 block of North Adams Street. The filing alleges the cash is proceeds from methamphetamine distribution.
According to a supporting affidavit, the investigation began in June 2024 after tips from confidential informants that Thompson was selling methamphetamine from her residence. On Feb. 5, 2025, deputies stopped a stolen 2018 Ford Explorer driven by Thompson. She was arrested and later charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) in an amount of 4 grams or more but less than 200 grams.
A search of the vehicle yielded 102.1 grams of methamphetamine and $2,855 in cash. The meth had an estimated street value of over $6,000. Investigators later executed a search warrant at Thompson’s home, where they found additional methamphetamine, ledgers listing names and amounts owed, and numerous empty plastic baggies. Thompson admitted during a post-Miranda interview that she sells methamphetamine and purchases a pound every other day for $2,400, the affidavit states.
A default judgment was entered April 29, 2026, following an asset forfeiture hearing before District Judge Tommy LaFon.
