Big Spring Man Arrested on Capital Murder Charge in Double Slaying

 

BIG SPRING, TX — A 22-year-old man was arrested Saturday on a capital murder charge in the shooting deaths of two men found in the front yard of a Big Spring residence. 

Ruben A. Gonzales was taken into custody about 9:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of Canary Street and booked into the Howard County Detention Center, authorities stated. 

Officers with the Big Spring Police Department and Howard County Sheriff's Department responded Friday to the 1600 block of Oriole Street on a report of shots fired. They found Willis J. Duval, 44, and Marcus D. Pena, 23, dead from apparent gunshot wounds. 

Detectives and Texas Rangers obtained a capital murder warrant for Gonzales after an investigation established probable cause, authorities said. 

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
