Midland Active Shooter Incident Resolved; Suspect Deceased, 11 Injured

MIDLAND, TX — The active shooter incident in Midland has been resolved, and the suspect has been confirmed deceased, the City of Midland announced Friday.

The scene remains active and has not been cleared. Road closures in the area are expected to remain in place for the foreseeable future as the investigation continues.

One person died and 11 others were injured in the incident, which occurred Friday morning in the area of West Wall Street, Industrial Avenue and Eisenhower Street, according to earlier statements from city officials.

Midland Police Chief Seth Herman Snow said officers responded to reports of an active shooter in the 4600 block of West Wall Street. Officers heard gunfire coming from inside the building and worked to secure and clear the area. Armored units were deployed, and partner agencies, including the Texas Rangers’ Northwest Texas Region and the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team, assisted in the response.

The Texas Department of Public Safety West Texas Region had urged the public to stay clear of the area near Fasken Drive across from Cavendar Subaru to Eisenhower Street and Wall Street (Highway 80/Business 20). Officials had clarified that the incident was not near the Victorian Inn.

The City of Midland said the public should continue to avoid the area and monitor official City of Midland and Midland Police Department channels for updates. The situation is no longer an active shooter incident but remains under investigation.
