Father Arrested After 14-Year-Old Daughter Found Safe in Big Spring Amber Alert Case

BIG SPRING, TX — A Big Spring father has been arrested after his 14-year-old daughter, the subject of a statewide AMBER Alert yesterday, was found safe.

Steven D’Wayne Rich, 48, was taken into custody and charged with interference with child custody in connection with the case involving his daughter, Audrey Rich, according to the Big Spring Police Department.

The AMBER Alert was issued after Audrey, a 14-year-old female, was reported missing from Big Spring. The alert prompted a multi-agency search across Texas.

Later on that day, authorities announced that Audrey had been safely recovered through a coordinated effort involving the Texas Rangers, the Howard County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Police said Audrey is safe and receiving appropriate care. No further details have been released about where she was located or how the situation unfolded.

The case remains under investigation.
