San Angelo Man Demands Counsel When Accused of Lewd Assault of Child

SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo man was arrested after being accused of inappropriately touching a child.

Jorge Rodriguez, 25, was charged by the San Angelo Police Department with indecency with a child by sexual contact.

According to court documents, the investigator reviewed body camera footage and determined that on July 22, 2026, a witness reported to a police officer that the child victim made an outcry of sexual abuse. The child stated that Rodriguez had touched their private area when she had spent the night at his residence.

That same day, the investigator reviewed a forensic interview of the child, who said that when they were at Rodrigeuz’s residence, he put his hand under their pajama bottoms and touched the child over their underwear.

The investigator interviewed the witness, who stated that the child told her that Rodriguez had touched them. When the witness learned of this, she called Rodriguez to talk about the allegations.

On July 23, an interview was attempted with Rodriguez, but he exercised his right to legal counsel.

Rodriguez was arrested on July 30 and released the next day on $75,000 bond.
