2.6 Pounds of Cocaine Pulled off Ozona Streets After Traffic Stop

OZONA, TX — A Crockett County sheriff's deputy seized about 2.6 pounds of cocaine during a traffic stop Sunday, the sheriff's office reported. 

The stop occurred at the intersection of 14th Street and Avenue E. Deputies found the cocaine — officially listed as 1.17 kilograms — concealed in a backpack inside the vehicle, according to a statement from the Crockett County Sheriff's Office. 

The driver was arrested and booked into the Crockett County Jail. Authorities did not immediately release the driver's name or specify the charges. 

The sheriff's office said the seizure prevented a significant amount of illegal narcotics from reaching the streets and described the stop as part of ongoing drug interdiction efforts. Deputies will continue working to stop the transportation and distribution of illegal drugs in the county, the office stated. 

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, the sheriff's office stated.
