SAISD Cancels Classes at Oakes Campus Due to Nearby Fire

SAN ANGELO, TX— Some classes at San Angelo Independent School District’s Oakes Campus have been cancelled due to this morning’s fire at Gisselle's Raw Furniture.

According to a safety update on the SAISD website, it states:

Good morning Families,

Due to a fire across the street from the Oakes campus this morning, all CTE students who normally report to Oakes should instead report to the cafeteria at their home campus today. Classes at the West Texas Training Center are operating as normal. We will continue to monitor the situation to ensure the safety of our students and staff.

ALL DAEP/PAYS classes are cancelled for the day.

During active safety events, SAISD works with local law enforcement and other agencies to put out the most accurate information as quickly as possible without compromising the safety of those directly involved. This page is updated with short, factual statements while an event is in progress.
