JUNCTION, TX — Junction Independent School District reported Monday that it terminated a former employee after learning of allegations of educator misconduct.
Superintendent Ken Wimberley said district administrators became aware of the allegations Sept. 8 and immediately reported the matter to Child Protective Services, local law enforcement and the Texas Education Agency.
Wimberley said state law currently prevents the district from publicly identifying the former employee.
"We understand that parents and community members have questions and are deeply concerned about the recent allegations involving a former district employee," Wimberley said. "Because of the ongoing law enforcement investigation, the district has been limited in the information it could share publicly."
The district said its investigation later uncovered additional allegations involving the former employee. Administrators made additional required reports to state and local agencies Sept. 17, according to the statement.
"We recognize that parents and community members want more information," Wimberley said. "We also understand that the limited information we can provide may be frustrating and concerning. The district will continue to cooperate fully with the appropriate authorities and will share additional information when we are legally permitted to do so."
Junction is a town of about 2,500 residents located approximately 100 miles southeast of San Angelo.
