Third Concert in Art Museum Music Series to be Performed Sunday

The supremely talented pianists, Shoko and Brendan Kinsella of Brownsville, Texas will perform a beautiful concert with music inspired by the country of Italy, said a press release Monday. This is the third concert of the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts 2015-2016 San Angelo Chamber Music Series and will take place Jan. 10 at 2 p.m. at the museum, One Love Street.

Ticket prices are $12 for the general public, $10 for Art Museum members, and $7 for students, senior citizens, and military. People can also save 20% by pre-purchasing three or more tickets for concerts throughout the season. Tickets may be purchased at the door or by calling the Art Museum at 325-653-3333.

Refreshments will be provided by The Wharf restaurant during intermission and coffee is courtesy of DeCoty Coffe Company. The 2015-2016 Season is sponsored in part by the Texas Commission on the Arts.

According to the press release, pianist Shoko Nakamura Kinsella is a native of Chiba, Japan and enjoys her diverse career as performer and teacher. She has extensively performed as a recitalist, concerto soloist, and chamber musician throughout the United States, Italy, and Japan. As a chamber musician, she has appeared as guest artist at many venues including the Summer Opera and Music Festival in Lucca Italy, and numerous collaborative appearances with large and small ensembles. Dr. Kinsella is currently on the piano faculty at University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley, where she teaches both undergraduate and graduate piano students, as well as collaborates in recitals with faculty, guest artists, and instrumental students.

Pianist Brendan Kinsella has been described as a “sensitive musician with an ear for color” by the Cincinnati Enquirer and “amazing” by the Houston Chronicle, and recent concert engagements have taken him to New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, Dallas, Holland, Italy, and other cities throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. He earned his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and in 2008 received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. In 2010, he debuted as a soloist in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall and was a featured concerto soloist at the prestigious Midwest Clinic in Chicago. Kinsella has appeared in concerti ranging from Beethoven to Brahms to Barber with many symphonies in the United States and Italy. A dedicated teacher, Kinsella presently serves as Assistant Professor of Piano and Collaborative Piano at the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley, where he teaches applied piano, chamber music, piano pedagogy, and piano literature. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kinsella made his concerto debut at 15. His recent and upcoming engagements include performances of concerti by Beethoven and Messiaen, a series of outreach concerts throughout Texas with his collegiate studio, and lecturing on teaching advanced pianists at the 2016 MTNA National Convention.
