HOLLYWOOD — A new trailer has released online for Ari Aster’s newest film, Eddington, where a sheriff and a mayor spar during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The synopsis for Eddington reads:
“In May of 2020, a standoff between a small-town sheriff, played by Joaquin Phoenix, and the mayor, played by Pedro Pascal, sparks a powder keg as neighbor is pitted against neighbor in Eddington, New Mexico.”
Everyone remembers when the United States was locked down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Politics took over and ended up tearing friends and families apart as mainstream media and so-called authorities fed the divide.
Misinformation spread like wildfire, and it only fueled animosity towards one another.
Now, Aster, who directed horror hits like Hereditary and Midsommer, is in the director’s chair for Eddington, a fictional New Mexico town where the movie is set. The film also boasts a star-studded cast that includes:
- Joaquin Phoenix (Gladiator, Joker) as Joe Cross
- Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us, Gladiator 2) as Ted Garcia
- Emma Stone (Superbad, LaLa Land) as Louise Cross
- Austin Butler (Elvis, Dune Part II) as Vernon Jefferson Peak
- Luke Grimes (Yellowstone, American Sniper) as Guy
- Deirdre O’Connell (The Penguin, Secondhand Lions) as Dawn
- Michael Ward (Bob Marley: One Love, Empire of Light) as Michael
- Clifton Collins Jr. (The Boondock Saints 2, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) as Lodge
Eddington is produced by A24 and is set to hit theaters on July 18, 2025.
