Matthew McConaughey Returns to Leading Role in Apple's "The Lost Bus"

 

HOLLYWOOD— Matthew McConaughey returns to a live-action leading role after five years in “The Lost Bus."

A trailer has been dropped online for the movie, which is based on the 2018 Camp Fire, the deadliest fire in California history. The fire killed 85 people, displaced over 50,000, and destroyed 18,000 buildings and structures.

McConaughey is cast as Kevin McKay, a school bus driver that saved 22 students from the blaze.

The Lost Bus is directed by Paul Greengrass, who has directed The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, Green Zone, Captain Phillips, Jason Bourne, and News of the World. The cast also includes:

  • America Ferrera (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, End of Watch) as Mary Ludwig
  • Yul Vazquez (Runaway Bride, Bad Boys II) as Ray Martinez
  • Ashlie Atkinson (BlacKkKlansman, The Wolf of Wall Street) as Ruby
  • Danny McCarthy (Flags of Our Fathers, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs) as McKenzie

The Lost Bus is produced by Apple Studios, Blumhouse Productions, and Comet Films. It will be distributed by Apple TV+.
