HOLLYWOOD — The first trailer for the next entry into the Avenger’s franchise has released online.
It’s been a minute since Marvel Studios dropped an Avengers trailer, but now they have released one for Avengers: Doomsday that features many actors MCU fans will notice, and one comic fans absolutely would … Victor Von Doom.
A few years ago, Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. was announced as Dr. Doom in Avengers: Doomsday, and he narrates the beginning of the trailer followed by Chris Hemsworth’s Thor.
The opening shot is of Charles Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters with Doom narrating, “Something’s coming. Something we may not be able to deter.” We then see Patrick Stewart’s Professor X looking at what one can only believe is an incursion.
"Before this day is done, we shall be faced with an unthinkable decision,” Doom says as we first see the villain crouching down.
Thor then takes over and speaks about the past threats he faced with the Avengers and how Dr. Doom scares him more than anyone. We also get to see the rest of the known cast in Pedro Pascal’s Mr. Fantastic along with Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan and Paul Rudd as Captain America, the Winder Solider and Ant-Man, respectively. We get various shots of New York and the new Avengers Tower, plus a wide interior shot with the Fantastic Four, the New Avengers and Thor.
“I’ve fought with many warriors in my time. They were far stronger than all of us put together, and they died. They died facing enemies and threats that scared me far less than this one,” Thor says as we get more shots of Black Panther, Namor and another shot of Dr. Doom in the distance behind Stormbreaker, Thor’s axe.
Then, we get a shot of James Marsdan’s Cyclops from X-Men and Channing Tatum’s Gambit fighting Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi inside the X-Men’s mansion. After that we get to see Tom Hiddleston’s Loki with his TVA badge.
Rebecca Romijn returns as Mystique as she tranforms into Florence Pugh’s Yelana, and they begin to fight as Thor says they need to put aside their differences to take on Dr. Doom. Of course, we see Ian McKellen’s Magneto share a moment with Stewart’s Professor X.
A few quick shots of the characters fighting flash across the screen before we see Cyclops shooting a powerful energy blast, and then it cuts to Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm.
Thor then takes Stormbreaker into the air aided by lightning and swings at Dr. Doom, who stops the axe with two fingers. The only bit of Downey we get to see is his eyes in that moment before Thor says, “We’re going to need a miracle.” He is then seen holding his old hammer, Mjolnir, before we hear a “Hey pal” in a familiar voice before Thor says it isn’t possible. He holds out Mjolnir and it flies out of his hand and into Chris Evan’s Steve Rodgers’ hand.
We then see the new green-themed title card for Avengers: Doomsday with a release date of Dec. 18, 2026.
The synopsis for Avengers: Doomsday reads:
"Universes collide and the Multiverse Saga begins its final chapter in Marvel Studio’s Avengers: Doomsday. Beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and ultimately face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered. This epic film will lay the foundation for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
"Those three universes could likely be the Fantastic Four’s universe, the X-Men universe, and the MCU universe. Dr. Doom does appear in Fantastic Four: First Steps in the post-credit scene as Sue Storm walks in and sees the villain next to her son, Franklin.
