Sweetwater Truck Stop Employees Quarantined After Traveler Stops Through With the Coronavirus

SWEETWATER, TX. – The Sweetwater Nolan County Health Department has confirmed that someone traveling through the city tested positive for coronavirus at the Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.

According to KTXS, the man was driving through Sweetwater on Sunday afternoon when he stopped at the TA Travel Center around 2:30 p.m. He used the restroom and ordered a meal from Popeye’s Chicken.

After receiving his food he walked to his vehicle to eat his meal and began to feel ill. He then decided to call 9-1-1-. The man states he was wearing a mask when he entered the truck stop.

The health department notified the manager at the TA Travel Center that staff could have been exposed and those working the register at Popeye’s should quarantine themselves. Customers who visited the truck stop on Sunday should also self-quarantine and monitor their symptoms.

Since the patient is not from Nolan County or Texas, his positive test will not be included in Nolan County's official numbers.
