Taylor County Experiencing COVID-19 Surge

ABILENE, TX –– The surge of Covid-19 infections is also affecting neighboring counties.

According to officials, for the first time since March Taylor County is reporting more than 300 active infections with the active case count at 327.

According to City Manager Robert Hanna, the county has sent several samples off to the Texas Capitol to be tested for the Delta variant.

"The state is the only one that confirms the Delta variant and they're tested in large buckets they don't just test this person unless there is a reason to do so," said Hanna.

According to Hendrick Health officials, approximately 95 percent of their COVID-19 patients have not been vaccinated.
