WASHINGTON — Frank Fritz, the former co-host of the popular History Channel show American Pickers, died on September 30, 2024, at the age of 58.
Fritz was known for his decade-long role in the show, which focused on finding and restoring vintage items. His passing was confirmed by the American Pickers team and Mike Wolfe, his longtime co-host and friend, on Tuesday.
“We are saddened to share that our friend and beloved member of The HISTORY Channel and American Pickers family, Frank Fritz, has passed away on September 30, 2024," American Pickers said in a statement on social media. "We will always remember ‘the bearded charmer’ and his never-ending search for vintage motorcycles and bikes. Our thoughts are with Frank’s loved ones during this difficult time. He will be deeply missed.”
Wolfe expressed his heartbreak over Fritz’s death, saying, “We’ve been on countless trips and shared so many miles and I feel blessed that I was there by his side when he took one last journey home. I love you buddy and will miss you so much I know your in a better place."
Fritz’s departure from American Pickers came in 2020 after a health scare. He suffered a debilitating stroke in July 2022, which left him hospitalized and in need of in-patient care. In June 2023, it was reported that he had been placed under temporary guardianship as his condition required ongoing support.
