AUSTIN, TX — A Change.org petition calling for Texas country music legend George Strait to headline the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show in place of Bad Bunny has surpassed 35,000 verified signatures as of Friday morning.
The petition argues that the Super Bowl halftime show should “unite our country, honor American culture, and remain family-friendly,” claiming that Bad Bunny’s performances “represent none of these values.” Supporters are urging the NFL and related decision makers to choose Strait as what they describe as a more authentic, all-American performer for the event.
Strait, known as the “King of Country,” has more than 60 No. 1 hits and over 40 years in the music industry. The petition praises his “timeless songs” and ability to “transcend generations."
Bad Bunny, the Puerto Rican reggaeton superstar, was announced earlier this month as the halftime performer for Super Bowl LX, set for Feb. 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The announcement drew backlash from some conservative groups, including Turning Point USA, who criticized the choice as politically motivated.
