SAN ANGELO – Record high temperatures and strong, gusty southwest winds will combine Sunday afternoon to create extreme wildfire conditions again across the Concho Valley and West Texas.
Meteorologists with the National Weather Service in San Angelo say critical wildfire conditions will exist across the region Sunday afternoon with high temperatures in the upper 80s and winds out of the southwest at 5 to 15 mph with gusts to 25 mph.
Record high temperatures are likely. The current record high temperature for this day is 83 degrees for San Angelo and 81degrees in Abilene both record high temps were set in 2005. The forecast calls for temps to reach 87 degrees in San Angelo and 88 degrees in Abilene.
Residents are urged to avoid all outdoor burning Sunday.
Grilling and outdoor cooking are permitted but not recommended.
This is a serious weather situation.
