SAN ANGELO – There were isolated spots of light to moderate freezing rain and sleet in parts of the Concho Valley Wednesday morning but most roadways and city streets remained clear of accumulation.
According to the National Weather Service office in San Angelo, periodic freezing rain showers with some sleet and small hail will continue throughout the day so the Winter Weather Advisory will remain in place.
There is a better chance of heavier precipitation in the Big Country and the Heartland so Meteorologists may issue a Winter Storm Warning for that area later today.
Temperatures will remain in the mid to upper 20s region wide Wednesday with periods of freezing precipitation. The best chance for sleet and freezing rain is late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning. Temperatures will remain steady in the mid 20s overnight with wind chills in the teens. There is a 50% chance of freezing rain Wednesday night.
Roadways, especially bridges and overpasses are expected to be frozen over by sunrise Thursday.
Look for a gradual clearing Thursday throughout the day with temperatures rebounding to the upper 40s.
