SAN ANGELO – Meteorologists with the National Weather Service office in San Angelo upgraded the Heat Advisory for the Concho Valley to an Excessive Heat Warning effective through Thursday night at 9 p.m. as predicted.
According to the experts with the NWS, dangerously high temperatures in excessive of 105 and heat indices over 112 are expected. Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase for heat exhaustion and heat stroke especially for individuals who have to work outdoors.
The precautionary warnings remain the same; stay indoors in an air-conditioned room if at all possible during the heat of the day. Check on friends and relatives and never, ever leave a pet or a child in a locked car in West Texas.
Drink plenty of fluids and wear sensible clothes for furnace-like conditions when you go outside.
Afternoon temperatures will drop a few degrees Friday heading into the weekend but will remain over 100 degrees for the next seven days. There is no rain at all in the forecast.
This is a serious weather situation. Avoid all outdoor activities during the heat of the day.
