Flood Watch Issued for Concho Valley Through Monday Evening

SAN ANGELO, TX — A flood watch remains in effect through Monday evening for San Angelo and surrounding areas as scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to redevelop across the region, according to the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office.

The flood watch has been extended through 7 p.m. Monday for the Heartland, Concho Valley, Edwards Plateau and portions of the northwest Hill Country.

Areas of showers and thunderstorms are expected to redevelop across parts of the region by sunrise and spread west through the morning hours. The storms could produce pockets of very heavy rainfall in short periods of time, with an additional 1 to 3 inches of rain likely and some locations seeing totals in excess of 5 inches. This could quickly lead to flooding.

The National Weather Service urged residents to avoid driving onto water-covered roads and to never attempt to walk, swim or drive through flowing floodwaters.

Officials urged residents to monitor forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
