Not Even a Drop in the Forecast as Heat Builds

SAN ANGELO, TX — Dry conditions and rising temperatures will grip West Central Texas through the weekend and into next week, with highs climbing into the upper 90s and low 100s, according to the National Weather Service in San Angelo.

San Angelo is forecast to reach highs of 92 degrees on Friday, 94 on Sunday and near 96 on Monday and Tuesday. Overnight lows will gradually rise from around 68 degrees Thursday night to the mid-70s by early next week.

Other cities in the region, including Abilene and Sweetwater, could see highs nearing or exceeding 100 degrees. Sweetwater is forecast to hit 101 degrees on Tuesday, while Abilene could see 99 degrees on both Monday and Tuesday.

“Mainly hot and dry into next week," the weather service said in an updated forecast issued early Wednesday. "Humidity values will remain high and concerns about excessive heat will increase."

South winds of 5 to 10 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph, are expected to persist through the period.

The weather service advises residents to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities during peak heat, and monitor forecasts for any heat-related advisories.
