Hot Weather Continues as Rain Chances Rise Midweek

SAN ANGELO, TX – Scattered showers and storms are expected across West Central Texas this week, with the best chances of rainfall arriving Wednesday and Thursday, according to the National Weather Service in San Angelo.

Forecasters said a few isolated showers developed Sunday, but most were short lived and produced only brief light to moderate rain. The activity is expected to gradually increase through the week, with rain chances climbing as high as 65% in Junction on Thursday and 60% in Brady, Brownwood and San Saba.

San Angelo’s rain chances peak at 55% on Wednesday before tapering off to 30% by Friday. Abilene is expected to see similar conditions, with a 55% chance Wednesday and 40% on Thursday.

High temperatures will remain above normal, ranging from the mid-90s to near 100 degrees across the region. San Angelo is forecast to reach 97 on Sunday and 99 on Monday before dipping slightly into the low to mid-90s by Thursday.

The weather service said heavy downpours and lightning are possible, though widespread flooding is not anticipated at this time. Forecasters added that rain coverage will remain scattered, meaning some areas may see rainfall while others stay dry.
