SAN ANGELO, TX — The National Weather Service in San Angelo is warning of increased rain chances and the potential for heavy rainfall and localized flooding across West Central Texas this weekend.
Forecasters say rain chances are highest from Saturday afternoon through Monday morning, with the greatest risk for heavy rainfall occurring Saturday night into Sunday morning.

The probability of rainfall exceeds 70% for many locations, including San Angelo, Abilene, Brownwood and Brady. Medium to high chances (50-70%) exist for at least one inch of rain, with some areas potentially receiving locally higher amounts.
The Weather Prediction Center has placed much of the region, including San Angelo, under a “slight risk” for excessive rainfall today and Sunday, meaning flash flooding will be possible. Surrounding counties remain under a “marginal risk.”

Temperatures are also expected to drop into the mid-80s Sunday and Monday due to increased cloud cover and rain chances. San Angelo is forecast to reach 85 on Sunday and 89 on Monday, a break from highs in the upper 90s earlier in the week.
Residents are asked to stay alert for changing weather conditions and avoid driving through flooded roadways. The NWS emphasized the reminder: “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”
