SAN ANGELO, TX — The National Weather Service in San Angelo has issued a freeze warning for all of West Central Texas, in effect from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday, as the region braces for the first freeze of the season.
Forecasters say low temperatures will fall into the upper 20s to low 30s, with the coldest readings expected in low-lying areas and river valleys. Residents are urged to protect outdoor pipes and sensitive vegetation, and to bring pets indoors overnight.
Strong north winds of 20 to 35 mph are also expected to continue through Wednesday, peaking in the afternoon before tapering off by evening. The gusty winds could cause hazardous crosswinds on east-west roads.
Temperatures will gradually warm later in the week, with highs in the 60s and 70s through the weekend. Halloween evening is forecast to be pleasant, with temperatures near 70°F at sunset and falling into the 50s by 10 p.m. Winds will be light from the south at 5–10 mph, and no rain is expected.
The National Weather Service advises that fall-like conditions will persist into early next week, with overnight lows remaining in the 40s across the Concho Valley and surrounding areas.
