SAN ANGELO, TX — A cold front moving through West Texas late Saturday is expected to bring much colder temperatures and gusty north winds on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service in San Angelo.
High temperatures will fall from the low 70s on Saturday to the 40s and lower 50s across much of the region on Sunday. In San Angelo, the high is forecast near 52 degrees Sunday after reaching about 72 degrees Saturday.
Overnight lows early Sunday morning are expected to dip into the upper 20s and 30s, with San Angelo forecast to drop to around 34 degrees. Colder conditions are expected in parts of the Big Country, where temperatures may fall into the upper 20s.
North to northeast winds of 15 to 20 mph behind the cold front will create even colder wind chill values Sunday morning. Wind chills are forecast to fall into the upper teens and 20s across portions of the Big Country, with San Angelo wind chills in the mid- to upper 20s during the early morning hours.
The National Weather Service advises residents to dress warmly and wear layers, especially young children and older adults, due to the cold and wind.
Temperatures are expected to moderate early next week, with highs rebounding into the 60s on Monday and upper 60s to mid-70s by Tuesday and Wednesday across the Concho Valley.
