SAN ANGELO, TX — Dry weather will continue across West Texas with no rainfall expected through early next week, the National Weather Service in San Angelo said Friday, as elevated fire weather conditions return for the day.
Low humidity of 15-20%, southwest winds of 10-15 mph, and temperatures in the mid-70s to lower 80s will combine with abundant dry fuels to create heightened fire danger west of a line from Sweetwater to San Angelo to Ozona, primarily from noon to 6 p.m. Any fires that start could spread rapidly and become difficult to control.
Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning and any activities that could spark accidental fires.
Above-normal temperatures continue Friday, with highs ranging from 68°F in Haskell to 79°F in Ozona. Slightly cooler conditions arrive this weekend before much warmer weather returns mid-next week, with highs climbing into the mid- to upper 80s by Wednesday.
No precipitation is forecast through at least early next week.
