SAN ANGELO, TX — High temperatures in the San Angelo area are forecast to remain in the 100s all week as hot, dry conditions persist under high pressure.
The National Weather Service in San Angelo issued a heat advisory for Monday from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. CDT across the Big Country, Heartland and Concho Valley. Heat indices are expected to reach 105 to 108 degrees during that period. Monday highs are forecast at 101 degrees in both San Angelo and Abilene.
An extended forecast shows San Angelo highs holding at 101 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday before climbing to 102-104 degrees later in the week and reaching 103 degrees Sunday. Similar readings are expected across much of the region, with Sweetwater forecast to hit 107 degrees Saturday. Overnight lows will generally range from the mid-70s to around 80 degrees.
Heat indices could climb as high as 105-110 degrees at times through the period.
Scattered thunderstorms are possible Monday night across the Big Country, carrying a 20% to 30% chance. The Storm Prediction Center has outlined a marginal risk for severe weather, including damaging winds, large hail and locally heavy rainfall. Some areas also face a marginal to slight risk of excessive rain.
The NWS advises residents to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities during the hottest hours and monitor weather alerts closely.
