Abilene Police Officer’s Association Announces Candidate Endorsements

The Abilene Police Officer’s Association (APOA) announced its endorsement and support of three candidates running for office in the upcoming election, said a press release Tuesday.

The release stated APOA is endorsing Michael Bob Starr for U.S. House of Representatives Dist. 19, Harriet Haag for County Court at Law 2, and Brad Birchum for County Commissioner Place 3.

“The APOA believes each of these candidates will best support the interests and values of the Abilene Police Department and Law Enforcement Officers in Taylor County,” APOA officials stated.

Officials also stated the APOA is committed to proactive community involvement and building relationships with community members seeking to hold elected positions in the city, county and state.

APOA met with several candidates running for various elected positions. In January, the Association hosted a forum for the candidates to speak to their members, so the APO could determine the best person for the job. The APO Political Action Committee voted among its members and chose to endorse these three candidates for office.

“It is our belief these candidates will serve the community of Abilene well when elected to office,” said Adam Becker, APOA President.
