WATCH: Senator Cruz's Father Rallies Hispanic Republicans in San Angelo

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – The San Angelo chapter of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly held a rally at Kirby Park in San Angelo Labor Day which featured a car show, live music, a hamburger or hotdog lunch and speeches from Hispanic leaders including Raphael Cruz, the father of U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas. 

Much of the conversation at the rally Monday focused on the mass shooting in Odessa over the weekend.  

Those in attendance included San Angelo Mayor Brenda Gunter, Police Chief Frank Carter, Tom Green County Commissioner Pct. 3 Rick Bacon, Tom Green County Republican Party Chairman Jeff Betty and representatives of the Concho Valley Republican Women and the San Angelo Republican Women.  

There was a live auction in addition to the car show.  

According to the RNHA website, the mission of the RNHA is to increase Hispanic-American participation in electoral politics at all levels as well as boost Hispanic-Americans membership in the Republican Party. The RNHA seeks to promote the philosophy and political ideology of the GOP within the Hispanic-American community.  The RNHA also desires to create and sustain an association of Hispanic-American Republican leaders.  

There were dozens of entries in the car show and awards were handed out Monday afternoon.

Participants at the rally had the opportunity to join local GOP organizations and register to vote.
